Welcome to the official Team Mackenzie fund raising page. This team was created in memory of Mackenzie Borchers. Mackenzie was a beautiful, smart, funny and just plain incredible little girl. Her laughter and smile were infectious and she had the ability to light up any room. Her strength and determination were boundless and her ability to make others laugh and smile were some of her greatest attributes. To know her was to feel true love. It was and still is truly a gift to havebeen apart of her life.
Mackenzie was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Throughout her 9 years of life, Mackenzie and her parents, Tracy & Joe, were supported everyday by Angela's House. Without their support I'm not sure how Tracy and Joe would have made it through.
Team Mackenzie was created for so many reasons. It was created so the memory of Mackenzie Borchers will never be forgotten. One thing I remember her mom Tracy saying to me is: "Please don't forget my daughter.". Although I never could forget her, I've made it a personal mission to keep her memory alive. However, main reason Team Mackenzie was created was so that we (Mackenzie's family & friends) could help Angela's House continue to give the much needed love and support to other medically fragile children and their families. In these last few years it has been incredibly difficult for Angela's House and organizations just like this to fundraise. We are so happy that we can get back to normal and have this amazing walk to raise money and awareness for this incredible organization.
