Each year as I sit down to contemplate the wording on how best to rally those around us for this cause I become somewhat stuck. What i have realized over time is that the wording may change but the reasons WHY we do this walk and WHY it is so important to us to give back remain the same.
For those of you who have maybe not heard our story, Abby Rose Peyman was born on January 8, 2007 after a full term healthy pregnancy. Her prognosis in the hours before her birth was uncertain and in the hours after her birth became grim. Presented with the news that we would have this sweet little 6lb 10 oz little girl for much shorter than we could have ever wanted, we dug our heels in and the rally began. In the days that followed we realized that Abby was rallying too. She began to pave her own way and we became witnesses to her journey. As the hours stretched into days and weeks and then months we continued to rally for her and with her, as did our family and friends -some of which we had never met and some of which we were just starting to know. Our medical community helped us to rally through every obstacle and Angela’s House stepped in in support.
Abby blessed our lives for almost 11 months. If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times- we were LUCKY to have her, LUCKY to have these experiences and LUCKY to learn what we have by having our daughter.
Stories such as ours unfortunately continue to occur but hopefully will dwindle. As a family we have placed very high priority on taking a worry away from these families who are going through events such as we have. Whether it’s navigating health insurance procedures, helping monetarily or helping with Medical needs, I feel blessed that this group is here. They helped us and in tribute to Abby we walk and raise to help other families such as ours.
